Keep Dolphins out of Captivity

The UK has been free of dolphinariums for 14 years now, however there are fears that this may change in the future due to the recent purchase of Blackpool Zoo by Spanish company Parques Reunidos, who have captive dolphins in other countries. Furthermore NIRAH have not ruled out the keeping of cetaceans, including dolphins, at its proposed aquarium and research laboratory near Bedford.
How you can help:
* Please write to Jonathan Shaw MP, Animal Welfare Minister, asking him to introduce legislation to ban the keeping of dolphins in captivity in this country.
* Please also write to Patrick Hall MP, representative for Bedford and Kempston (or your local MP if you live outside of Bedford), asking him to sign EDM 1342 calling for the introduction of legislation banning the keeping of dolphins in captivity in this country.
(You can use the following template letters if you wish. They have been adapted from those sent by Cetacea Defence but have a mention of the NIRAH project added.)
* Sign the petition at petitions.pm.gov.uk/cetaceans/
