SPEAK Demo Report - Saturday 25th October 2008

Bedford Animal Action were out on the streets again this weekend.
Oxford University held a Degree Day Ceremony which is always an opportunity to inform the public of the cruel and outdated practice of vivisection which carries on within its walls.
Oxford University seem a little unkind and backward and, in our opinion, should be leading the way in medical progress instead of contributing to drugs which harm and kill humans, not to mention the countless animals within its ‘care’.
Wouldn’t it be nice if they approached the animal rights/anti-vivisection campaigners and proved that they actually do have a heart, instead of fighting tooth and nail to get us off the streets?
Vivisection is an issue with many of the public and nowadays that public just aren’t swallowing the ‘Your dog or your child’ mantra. They want to see an institution such as Oxford University move completely away from animal testing and make a stand for humane medical progress.
The campaigners on the streets of Oxford fighting for that humane treatment have members of their family and friends who have died from diseases such as cancer, heart disease and strokes, which are the biggest human killers. The fourth biggest human killer being adverse drug reactions from animal tested drugs.
Just imagine, if Oxford University stopped animal testing, they would be able to have their Degree Day Ceremonies is peace and quiet. Now wouldn’t that be nice for us all?
